    - What is the most interesting thing you have seen done with a 3D printer or 3D printing technology?

As an engineer it is very interesting to be able to produce functional prototypes no matter what the complexity. I have been able to utilize 3D printing to develop handle levers and shields for rototillers that would have taken many attempts if done by sheet metal or may not have been able to create without a very expensive mold. My personal experience and interest aside, the development of 3D printed organs/tissues/bones has been very amazing and I'm glad to know people are being helped in ways never imagined before.

    - If you could build your dream 3D printer, what would it include and what would it do? Let your imagination run wild!

My dream 3D printer would be a one-stop-shop for prototyping. It would include the ability for FDM printing as well as SLS for ecoplastics, silicone polymers, metals, wood, glass, sandstone, and ice. In addition to printing it would have CNC milling capabilities and house a 4' x 4' work area. Of the materials I listed, ice would be interesting to print in by running a cold extruder nozzle in order to produce intricate ice sculptures for weddings and other such events.

Organovo's work on bio-printing. It could really be the replacement organ builders of the future.

It would have : Ultrafast printing (you said we could dream !) + scanner high res + Big printing volume (80x80x80cm) + Tripple or quadruple head extrusion + metal printing capabilities + Kevlar & Carbon fiber printing capabilities + CNC milling + it must make coffee too.

For me it had to be moving parts, gears, joints etc. and they move seamlessly I know that's old but when I first saw it I was blown away.

My cray ideas would be to print on pre existing things ie. shoes, watches anything that would personalize something. I don,t know if this exist already but something that plants can use a s a food source an slowly decompose. (I love orchids)

    - What is the most interesting thing you have seen done with a 3D printer or 3D printing technology?

I am new to 3D printing so the most interesting thing I have made was my printer.

I just received it recently - the QU-BD One Up - and I have upgraded it with a plastic extruder I DLed from thingiverse.

    - If you could build your dream 3D printer, what would it include and what would it do? Let your imagination run wild!

My dream printer would be a SLA printer because I have a love affair with miniatures!

I would like something that is reliable that requires little tinkering as I have currently spent more time fixing then printing.

I am new to learning about this technology of 3 d printing, yet, I'm mesmerized. The most amazing thing I've seen as of today were 3 d printed floral bouquets! That is the reason I would like to have one! I hate getting flowers and then they die..this way it's a one of a kind keepsake that last for years on end!

As I am new to learning about this technology, I am still not sure what I would "change" however I have heard there is a lot of waste involve so at this point I would have to say...I'd like to see a way to reuse...the waste...some sort of extruded, would work great! I am still learning so I will post again about these things ask learn more!

A printer like this, in th elands of a novice could make foursome. Wry interesting ideas! I for one have hundreds running through my head right now!!!

The most interesting thing I have seen done with a 3D printer is the bitcoin ingot created by xmbrst on thingiverse. I really love bitcoin and paper wallets but was never really comfortable printing my own paper wallets for long term storage using consumer level inkjet printers because of how ink can bleed or fade over time. Using a 3D printer, one can create a pair of bitcoin wallet QR codes in a solid chunk of plastic that is invulnerable to such weaknesses.

If I were to build my dream 3D printer, it would have 100% open source hardware, have four tiny extruders so I could print in every color (CMYK), have a built-in filament recycler on top, have network connectivity options so anyone on the LAN could easily print, and it would send me SMS updates on print status.

Epic contest by the way. I'm also glad to see Adafruit on the list of sponsors!

    - What is the most interesting thing you have seen done with a 3D printer or 3D printing technology?

My personal favorite has to be the glados light. A combination of 3D printing and ardunio to produce a remote controlled movable lamp. Or even custom robotics parts. I've seen some amazing pieces from Thingverse challenges.

    - If you could build your dream 3D printer, what would it include and what would it do? Let your imagination run wild!

It would give me the chance to make complex terrarium landscapes including things like water features, buildings and natural formation. I keep reptiles and a 3d printer would allow me to produce a range of custom tanks from a number of different themes.

So I had a situation to handle and couldn't finish my answers/entry for the contest.

2 interesting things I've seen 3D Printed: Car parts...Panels and the Chassis, and a Gothic 3D Mural with amazing detail 3ft x 3ft piece at a time with something like nearly 100 pieces.

My Dream 3D Printer(s) would be large format with a 10ft x 10ft x 6ft build area, and mostly important STACKED...Yep, with 3D printers only needing support at the 4 corners, I feel stacked printers will be the next generation of 3D because it would increase build quantity per print, this increasing productivity. There you go engineers, that's a freebie, stack 2 to 3 printers on top of each other as 1 big unit and print multiple jobs at once...I'll take my prize now. LOL

I am amazed at some of the medical advances that they have made with 3D printing. I think the potential for biologically compatible materials and customized prosthetics and replacement parts is incredible.

I would love to have a 3d printer that could work with multiple materials at the same time. I’d also like to see ways of expanding out the build envelope to much larger sizes.

    Ultimate 3D printing giveaway

    - What is the most interesting thing you have seen done with a 3D printer or 3D printing technology?
3D printing the Robohand for children with Amniotic Band Syndrome, very touching and inspiring! Especially to families who cannot afford a prosthetic hand.

    - If you could build your dream 3D printer, what would it include and what would it do?
in a realistic standpoint, mechanical self leveling of the bed, auto shutdown on failed prints, quick change parts for easy replacement. Under or near $1000.
unrealistically.... print anything! print working cell phones, servos, medicine, body parts etc!
