    ENTER HERE - 3DPrint - Ultimate 3D Printing Giveaway!

    ABOUT

Welcome to the first "3DPrint Ultimate Giveaway"! 3DPrint.com and 3DPB.com have teamed with numerous 3D printing manufacturers and vendors to launch what we believe is the largest 3D printing related contest ever held. We would like to thank all of the participating vendors for taking part in this event. (note to non-participating vendors: If you are interested in partnering with us for future contests, please feel free to contact us).

    RULES

    - Contest will run from Today (September 2, 2014) until December 29th, 2014 at 12:00 AM ET.
    - Random Contest Drawing will take place on January 13th, 2015, and winners will be announced on January 14, 2015 or soon thereafter. (note drawing date has changed due to CES 2015, which we will be attending)

HOW TO ENTER - 5 Ways to Enter!

We understand that everyone does not have the same knowledge of 3D printing, thus we didn't think it was fair to create a contest that only those who have a deep knowledge of 3D design and 3D printing could enter. Instead, we decided to make this contest open to everyone (over the age of 18). There are several ways to earn entry "tickets" into this contest:

    1) In order to enter the contest, earn 1 entry ticket, you MUST reply to this discussion thread, and answer the following 2 questions (answers must be at least 2 sentences in length each):
    - What is the most interesting thing you have seen done with a 3D printer or 3D printing technology?
    - If you could build your dream 3D printer, what would it include and what would it do? Let your imagination run wild!

    2) To earn another 1 entry ticket per retweet, Follow us on Twitter, and retweet the following tweets on your twitter account. You must click the tweet URL listed below and then click the retweet button - We will be adding additional tweet URLs as we make them, so be sure to check back daily. Only 1 retweet per listed tweet below will be counted per entrant, and you may not retweet more than one of the below tweets per day.

    My entry:

    - What is the most interesting thing you have seen done with a 3D printer or 3D printing technology?

I think it would have to be the 3D printed castle that Andrey Rudenko has built. This shows a great future for the technology.

    - If you could build your dream 3D printer, what would it include and what would it do? Let your imagination run wild!

I would have a 3D printer with 3 different nozzles so I could print in 3 different colors. It would also be super fast.

    - What is the most interesting thing you have seen done with a 3D printer or 3D printing technology?

I've seen some really promising 3d-printed widgets mashuped with RaspberryPis. I'm very excited about the possibility of printable circuitry.

    - If you could build your dream 3D printer, what would it include and what would it do? Let your imagination run wild!

I'd really like to see a commercial-grade 3D scanner/printer with multiple extruders, including a conductive solder extruder and CNC routing. Imagine being able to produce carved wood bases and 3D-printed electronics all in one step with a single, super-powerful machine.

    - What is the most interesting thing you have seen done with a 3D printer or 3D printing technology?

I have seen some really cool car parts done on a 3d printer. Everything from an intake on a Corvette to some really cool valve covers and a ton of interior trim pieces. The most interesting thing I have seen done has to be the parts for a Ferrari 265 GTB 4. They created a couple of parts that were just not available anymore for a restoration that really came out nice.

    - If you could build your dream 3D printer, what would it include and what would it do? Let your imagination run wild!

I would like to build a printer that could print on a 2'-0"X3'-0" X 2'-0" build envelope. I would like it to have dual extruders that could handle two different kinds of materials. That is for the printer. I would also like to see the market come out with a laser cutter in kit form that was somewhat affordable, and would also like to see the desktop cnc and waterjet industry catch up... and by desktop, something a home user could afford.

I think architecture will profit from 3d-printing. it will open up a whole new dimension of forms to habitats. Can't wait to see all the new houses.

If you could build your dream 3D printer, what would it include and what would it do? Let your imagination run wild!

I'd be happy if it would actually work. If it uses recyclable materials that are truly bio degradable, materials that have the same properties, that we are used to today (strength, flexibility and food-safe). It would include feature-rich and reliable software that is easy to use.

    - What is the most interesting thing you have seen done with a 3D printer or 3D printing technology?

I would have to say 3D cement printers for affordable housing would be the most impressive use of traditional 3D printing. but if we want to get into it very far I would say Bio-scaffolding printing for stem baths - 3d assisted organ growth. Of course this also would then allow my answer to go into food printing, from the simple sugar structuring devices, to NASA's Pizza printer initiative. Ultimately I think the most exciting development using modern tech will be the use of large scale printers to use what they dub 'moon-crete' to make concrete like mixtures using the lunar surface material to build research facilities, and other structures on at first the lunar surface and eventually likely other bodies in our solar system - which would a certain level of radiation shielding for human workers/explorers (easily provided by a foot or two of dense soil or stone.)

    - If you could build your dream 3D printer, what would it include and what would it do? Let your imagination run wild!

My dream 3D printer would have a 'shredder' type device which could destroy, melt, separate, and essentially 'bleach' extruder material to allow it to be broken down into a liquid mass which could be dyed, remixed, and spooled. To allow for the long term use of finite resources - and to be able to correct mistakes such as replacement parts printed on the wrong scale etc, etc. Easy interface with 3D modeling software, and an Open Operating system so that one could tweak to their needs as long as this was their expertise.

Another aspect I would have on my ideal 3D printer, most of the parts could be 3D printable save a few which would require metal printing devices (which I assume this question is not about) To allow for continued maintenance of the device by the owner.

So, I guess my focus would be on reusable extruder material, dyeable material (related to the reuse project I touch on.). And an Open approach to the machine operation software. Finally easy of maintenance and many replaceable parts.

Creating prosthetic devices for children is the most interesting (and moving) thing I've seen in the 3D printing technolgy.

A print head that accepts white filament and uses standard inkjet cartridges Red, Blue, Yellow and Black to create full color prints would be great.
A print head that accepts an aluminum based filament to create metal prints would also be good step in the direction of metal printing.

I guess mostly would be playable/usable items like a Guitar you can print from Thingiverse or the functional Clock.

I guess a House builder, That would print a house within so many days simple by that printer,
After that i would like a Delta printer as dream or a SLA?

Most interesting thing I've seen done is making replacement human organs. Imagine not having to wait for a donor kidney or heart, and not having to take anti-rejection medication for the rest of your life after a transplant.

My dream 3D printer would function about the same as the replicators on the USS Enterprise. Tea, Earl Grey. Hot. Basically convert energy directly into matter - any matter in any configuration, atom by atom. Of course it would be just as fast - basically make anything in a few seconds.

I think the new bronzefill and woodfill from Colorfabb are very interesting. Making it possible for consumers to print different materials.

It would have multiple extruders, printing with different nozzle sizes and materials for support and flexible. It would have a heated bed that could also cool! The build size would be adjustable so the printer doesn't take up that much room.

How do you measure all the entries, is there a page that manages it? Going to anwser the 33 questions now.
