3D printing has offered a number of opportunities for people with visual impairments to interact with data that we previously reserved only for the sighted. We've seen stories of mother's with 3D printed ultrasounds and sculptures that could be reproduced so as to be hands on versions of museum pieces. Now, Dr. Thomas Madura of the Goddard Space Flight Center is working to 3D print the universe and put it in the hands of those who can see better through touch. This ambitious project will require public support in order to become a reality and so Madura has launched a fundraising campaign with a number of goals that could truly help break down the barriers to space science, thereby opening the doors to more minds than ever.
