Go back and read my post here https://www.3dhubs.com/talk/thread/avatar-iv-qidi-tech
My report on a successful upgrade to Sailfish 7.6.
AVR Studio won't work. You need to use AVR Dude command line.
Read the thread and follow the links I posted and read them closely before you try.
You will need the Hex code for Mightyboard Rev E.bootloader.
Good Luck

Thanks for the files. Would you mind pairing down the info for me? I am not using a at90usb82 correct? So that command line would be different. What AVR Part would it be using? ATMEGA8?

Sorry not sure where your getting at90usb82 or ATmega8?
You do have the Qidi 1?
The avrdude command line should look something like this just with a different path that matches your computer.
To add the bootloader it should look like this. Path in Red
avrdude -p m1280 -F -P usb -c usbasp -U flash:w:bootloader/atmega1280.hex \ -U lfuse:w:0xFF:m -U hfuse:w:0xDA:m -U efuse:w:0xF4:m -U lock:w:0x0F:m

Okay I did some more reading. I am getting this error when trying to run that path: avrdude: error: could not find USB device "USBasp" with vid=0x16c0 pid=0x5dc

AH, okay I had to download windows 7 64 bit drivers for the USBasp.
I just tried your command line again and got the following:
avrdude: Device signature = 0x1e9389avrdude: Expected signature for ATMEGA1280 is 1E 97 03
avrdude: NOTE: FLASH memory has been specified, an erase cycle will be performed
To disable this feature, specify the -D option.
avrdude: erasing chip
avrdude: reading input file "bootloader/atmega1280.hex"
avrdude: error opening bootloader/atmega1280.hex: No such file or directory
avrdude: input file bootloader/atmega1280.hex auto detected as invalid format
avrdude: can't open input file bootloader/atmega1280.hex: No such file or directory
avrdude: write to file 'bootloader/atmega1280.hex' failed
avrdude: safemode: Fuses OK
avrdude done. Thank you.
Now what was next? Use rep G to install? or?

It's been 5 months since I've done this and it's a little foggy.
Did you load both the bootloader and usb hex code.
Are you seeing anything on the display or audio from the printer?
If you do then loading Sailfish through USB and RepG.

I lost Internet when I was replying.
I fixed the path for boot loader. Didn't realize that was your subfolder for the boot loader. I have the files in my C directory.
edit: you had it correct.
Which do I program the atmega1280 to and the firmware to?
1280: ???
8u2: ???Last edited by RetroCreo; 06-14-2016 at 09:36 PM.

I've not sure where your at have you successfully loaded the bootloader and usb code?
If you have load Sailfish with RepG.
Watch this video to learn the proper way to load Sailfish.

Don't worry the CTC and original Qidi have the same controller board.
