Casting in Pewter: Make Your Own 3D Printed PLA Mold
This is a great winter project, recently shared on Hackaday, combining basic pewter casting with 3D printing. Using your preferred 3D modeling program, you can create a mold for an object you design, print the mold in PLA, and then use it to cast the object in lead-free pewter. The project, from maker Brendan Sleight, requires some previous knowledge of 3D modeling and some inexpensive materials, as well as some basic safety measures. It's surprisingly easy!
