6 Foot Long 3D Printed Train From Makerbot
Wow, this is one heck of a combined 3D print. It's a 6 foot long train. It was modeled after the 4-8-8-4 Big Boy Locomotive which was ran between 1941 and 1960. The train currently is residing in the Makerbot Brooklyn store, but was printed out on commission from Makerbot by Paul Fischer, in Maryland. he used a Makerbot replicator 2 3D Printer, and printed it in pieces. In all the train took him 1000 hours to print. He used just one machine to do it.
The 3d model of the parts took 700 hours to draw as well, and is available on Thingiverse here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:259005
