Bold Machine's 3D Printed Castle
The team at Bold Machines, the Innovation Workshop at Stratasys, is headed up by Bre Pettis and General Manager Robert Steiner. Over the past two weeks, the innovative Bold Machines has been gradually releasing details of some of their latest projects, and today they've unveiled an impressive 3D printable medieval fantasy castle design. Based on the "interesting construction and incredible views" of two real German castles, the original design is downloadable now from Thingiverse. It can be printed in one piece on a MakerBot Replicator Z18 or in several parts using smaller desktop 3D printers, like the Replicator 2. The single part file from BoldMachines stinks, mesh-wise. If you decide to print it, you should use the file graciously provided by TobyCWood, which is also available on Thingiverse.
BTW, I was able to print it at a reduced size to fit my build volume; you can see it here: http://www.thingiverse.com/make:147620
