3D Printed Basking Shark Coming to the Victoria Museum
The Victoria Museum in Australia has decided to 3D scan the entire head and gill area of a giant basking shark which originally weighed a staggering 7,700 pounds. Once the shark is scanned the museum will forever preserve it by printing out a replica of it for public display later this year or next year. They used a local company called Qubic to do all the scanning, and the process was rather quick, yet a bit smelly.
