in that case...if you select other for machine, your profiles will never update?

caa, they dont get overwritten. all they mean with that is if s3d wants to make changes to their preconfigured profiles that you download then they can modify them. for instance if a manufacturer makes a hot end change and the temp need to be different then they can change it and the new profile you download for your printer will have the updated temps. you can always make your own profiles and save or export them.
