Surgeon Repairs Broken Hip with 3D Printed Surgical Tool
Dr. Vaibhav Bagaria, a surgeon in Nagpur, India, utilized 3D printing to save money and best help his 16-year-old patient. The boy was in a car accident and suffered severe injuries including a pelvic fracture that typically requires a very risky surgery. Dr. Bagaria, though, turned to 3D printing technology, creating a "3D patient optimized surgical tool," a 3D POST, using a CT scan and a 3D printed 1:1 scale model of the patient's injury.
