Russia is going to do whatever Russia is going to do pretty much independent of what Canada (or anyone else) says. I don't think you've got to worry about blaming yourselves for whatever Russia does.
And nature is adapting pretty well to our .03% increase in the gas byproduct that comes out of all animal life. Acid rain and CFCs were each a bigger problem than CO2 is being, but to be honest, even if we were trying to ruin the earth, burning every bit of gas, and coal we have all at once, we would maybe be able to cause the same global temperature shift and acid rain deposit as the Cretaceous–Paleogene asteroid strike (between 15 and 20 degrees celcius).

The only thing that we could do to really come close to ending the ecosystem would be to go completely crazy with nuclear warfare. And even Russia isn't that crazy.
