Makeblock Constructor I
Have you ever wanted to build a 3D printer from scratch Well, a Chinese company called MakeBlock is now offering a kit which consists of a staggering 400 piece, which will make up a complete 3D printer once assembled. Th Printer is called the Makeblock Constructor I, and costs $699.99 in kit form. Makeblock intends on shipping all kits prior to October 10th of this year. Here are a few of the general specs of this machine once it is assembled:
- Printer Size: 324mm X 312mm X400
- Print Materials: 1.75mm PLA
- Speed: 40mm/s, max 100mm/s
- XY Resolution: 0.1mm
- Layer Resolution: 0.1-0.3mm
- Build Envelope (WxDxH): 125mm x 165mm x 120mm

Lost in translation FTW.
But on this side of the pond, we call meccano erector. But I thought the same thing CA.
That said..... I Am VERY interested in this. I am already limited by the XYZ I have, and need more.
@makeblock: How customizable is it? Can I swap out a heated bed for ABS? That's what I'm looking for right now and would be interested in purchasing this soon, especially at this price point if other reviews are good.
EDIT 3: Ahhhh nevermind, kinda. I read the machine size as the build envelope. Release a kit with that build envelope and I'm game.Last edited by Marm; 10-28-2014 at 03:10 PM.

Only reason I know what meccano is, is from a James May show on BBC.
