EyesMap 3D Tablet Scanner Unveiled
A Spanish company called Ecapture has today unveiled their EyesMap 3D scanning tablet. The tablet features several sensors and 2 - 13 mp cameras. It uses an augmented reality interface to allow for 3D measurements, as well as 3D scanning. More details about this Eyesmap tablet, as well as videos can be found here: http://3dprint.com/6722/eyesmap-3d-scanner/
What do you guys think? Is this something that could be used a solid 3D Scanner? They have not released any specs on the device as of yet, nor a price. We will update the thread as further details emerge Below is an image of the Eyesmap tablet:

Makes sense. I could see dual cameras being a feature of all phones and tablets at some point because 3d sensing will be great for augmented reality.

There has been some interesting software that uses different views of an object to create a 'scan' of it. This approach would allow very clean silhouetting of the object from any perspective because you could flash the background panel and see the outline for the thing you are scanning. You would still have issues with 'depth' on the object, but you should be able to get a very clean outline of the object as you rotate it.
