3D Printed Elastomers
Elastomers are a material that have been used historically in applications such as robotics and electronics, although fabrication has been a challenge previously as they had to be cut, cast, and molded. Now, teams from the Singapore University of Technology and Design's (SUTD) Digital Manufacturing and Design (DManD) Centre which is funded by the Singapore National Research Foundation (NRF), the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (HUJI), and the Campus for Research Excellence and Technological Enterprise (CREATE) have come to together to create a new and improved elastomer. With UV curing and 3D printing, these new elastomers are easier to manufacture and can stretch by 1100 percent. Read more at 3DPrint.com: https://3dprint.com/164458/stretch-3...ed-elastomers/

There is a great need for better elastomeric filaments. It would be great to have a rubber filament that can be post-cured in an oven. Not only can we specify the properties of such a rubber, the vulcanizing will also add a lot of interlayer strength as crosslinks are formed between layers. If anybody has more information about the printing process, can you post it here?
