Dr. Ivar Mendez, head of surgery at the University of Saskatchewan and a team of researchers have developed a method for 3D printing an accurate model of a patient's brain, including small, internal structures. The model brain was printed with a synthetic rubber material that almost exactly simulates the consistency of real brain tissue. It is also completely clear and has the target area printed in a different color, making it easier to plan the correct surgical path.
