When designer Matthew Borgatti got a hankering for a spot welding machine, he decided to make his own. After reading through a number of Instructables tutorials and a YouTube video from the poetically named King of Random, he realized that all he needed was an old microwave and the pieces he had around his shop. Creating laser cut parts and 3D printed fasteners, and applying a knowledge of microwave magnetrons, he was able to build his own spot welding machine in about four days. His next plans are to create a CNC desktop plasma cutter. Sounds like a good first project for a home made spot welder! Check it out at 3DPrint.com: http://3dprint.com/79950/3d-printed-spot-welder/
