A Polar Drawbot, or polargraph, is a mural drawing robot intended to teach students about programming, physics, trigonometry, and electronics. The Makelangelo version of the device is essentially an “art robot” which hangs on a vertical surface and, with nearly the same technology as a 3D printer, uses a pen holder and motor mounts to trace out an image of your choosing. This 3D printed version by Carlo Franciscone is based on the Makelangelo, and some test models of those printers have been capable of drawings up to 300cm2.
