What is one of the biggest problems when it comes to getting crucial vaccines out to children and adults in 3rd world countries? It's the fact that refrigeration is needed for transport. Vaccines must remain within a certain temperature range in order to remain active. What one High School student named Peter Bermant has done is 3D print a new version of a typical syringe. His syringe mixes freeze dried contents of a vaccine with steril water just as it is being injected. This means that no refrigeration is needed.
