The Copenhagen based Maersk container shipping company has announced that they are using 3D thermoplastic printers on board their ships. The printers allow the company to save money and time, when parts break on board ships in the middle of the sea. Instead of having to rely on having replacement parts shipped in, Maersk can simply upload a part to a ship, and have the 3D printer fabricate it within hours.
