    Could be......

    Extruder gears clogged with filament from grinding the filament.
    Extruder tension needs increasing but not if it's grinding filament.
    Filament route has too much friction or tight spot.
    Filament trapped under windings on spool..

    I think I saw a video by Chep on Youtube about extruder tension arm problems.

    Thank you! That's helpful.My extruder is brand new, so I'm not sure if a clog is possible, but I'll look/clean. Also, just looking at the dip in the filament, it looks like melting, rather than grinding. Regardless, I'll do some more youtubing and search for that Chep video you mentioned. I'm thinking it may be a combo of heat creep and tension issues.
