GE Announced #3DPrintMyGift - Santa Sleigh Contest
General Electric today announced a fun little competition which also happens to spread the idea of 3D Printing more into the mainstream. The announced the #3DPrintMyGift contest. Basically participants have to design a 3D model of Santa's Sleigh. Here are some of the requirements for the contest:
- The winning sleigh must:
- Provide STL version.
- No variations of color in a single part.
- Fit within 50mm x 50mm x 50mm.
- Minimum wall thickness = 2mm.
- Focus on Manufacture and production vision.
- All other Requirements should be used as ways to push the bounds of 3D printing.
- Participants are encouraged to include:
- Extra renderings.
- Description of how it addresses each factor, below.
- Native CAD file formats. - Manufacture and production vision: Must utilize 3D printing as the primary means for sleigh design. Designs will be printed in plastic.
- Aesthetics & Aerodynamics: Santa has to go fast, ride in style and impress Mrs. Claus! Designs that find ways to reduce drag, while maintaining a high degree of style will be viewed most favorably.
