I used the 6'' wide tape also. Yeah it can be a pain, but you get better at it. I use a credit card to smooth it while I lay it down. Never tried the small sheets, probably easier I'm sure.

I also use the 50mm size. But only for sticking down the glass plate when I want to utilize the full surface area of the HBP.

My print platform is standard size for a FFCP printer. Approx 6 x 9. It came with the bed fully covered with K-Tape.

How do you remove the old tape? (And is there any special process for applying the new tape other than stick and go?)

peel off the old tape and use narrow tape to apply the new stuff :-)

I have a 150mm roll of kapton tape - the big issue is the stuff is incredibly thin. And applying it to the build plate within the machine is amazingly difficult. It would be easier to apply to a removeable plate.

But as has been mentioned it's easier to repair in thinner strips. I actually use 1inch pet tape.
And generally wait untill there's no printing space left on the bed before replacing. But often it'sa easier to just peel off a damaged strip and stick a new one on.
