In S3D when you open the process settings click on 'advanced options' in lower left, you should see a bunch of tabs now about mid window. Select the temperature tab, here you can make setpoints for both extruders and the bed.

I do use same material for support as the print most times, though with the PeTG i have I use abs supports, because the PeTG costs more. Some 400 grit emery based paper is best. And all the material I have used so far (PLA, ABS, and PeTG) respond very well to wetsanding, do it the same ya would inbetween layers of auto paint ya.
If you have the funds or access to a rig sandblasting also works fairly well on builds that sanding is not an option. But you need to kinda know how to sandblast, and you have to use a very light (and small) glass bead on a VERY low p.s.i..... 5psi is pushing the upper limit. Even at 3psi its easy to mess up a build if your not fairly skilled with a blaster.
There is also a method called vapor-bathing that works ok, but not to be used on super detailed builds, as it will reduce some definition, though not much.

    Hi all
Just wondering if any one can tell me what printer to select in S3D as the qidi is not listed

So, still undecided between MagHold and Boro Glass, but I am having reasonable success with the default blue sticker now. Things stick to the build plate in a near permanent fashion and I have to re-level the print surface after every print... but at least no corner/edge curling with ABS!

I am currently running ABS at 225C-230C with the bed at 85C to 90C. Any higher on the bed temperature and my prints fuse to the build surface.

I printed a new effector for my Kossel Mini. The model had a couple issues that I fixed with MS file fixer (netfabb powered). Only after fixing the file could I load it into (horrible) MakerWare. Everything seemed to print nicely, but here are my issues:

    1. I need the ability to set a minimum layer time like I can in Cura. I am seeing top corner curling on ABS prints, which leads me to believe each layer needs more cooling time. Besides using GPX (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:81425) to convert *.gcode files to *.x3g, is there another way I can use Cura with my Qidi? I am more and more trending towards Simplify3D, because I missing my favorite Cura options in the MakerWare software. Maybe ReplicatorG is better?

    2. I am having significant "ringing" (or ghosting) on my prints. Print speed is 60 m/s, travel is 115 m/s, 0.2 mm layer height, 2 shells. In the menu it shows that I have Sailfish 7.8 and that acceleration is turned "ON". I read that the default firmware acceleration rates per axis are between 1000 mm/s^2 and 2000 mm/s^2. I don't know what my rates are set at in the firmware (haven't connected my computer), but what are you guys running your acceleration at? There are a lot of abrupt moves, and banging back and forth when my printer prints... everything shakes, including the build plate! Almost looks like a VERY high acceleration setting, or no acceleration at all.

Besides the ringing issue, I have to admit that the print quality far exceeds that of my delta.

Don't really have any answers for you since I've been using S3D from the day I got my printer.

I have the generation of the Qidi Tech that preceded the current one and it didn't come with Sailfish.
I have successfully upgraded to the latest available version of Sailfish and don't seem to have the shaking issues several of you are having.
My question is where can I find the acceleration rates for my printer so I can compare?
I also have a woodframe CTC printer with an even weaker build plate Assy. also running the latest Sailfish without any significant shaking.

What Kossel do you have? I'm currently building a Folgertech 2020 Kossel RevB and printed a new effector with the Qidi Tech in PETG for it.

I think you could do both. Get the MagHold build plate. Then later on you can clip on some boro glass instead of the removable plate. I use boro for ABS, however for things that use glue stick or PVA I use build tack. I've never tried the MagHold, but it does look like a good system.

I believe you can check your acceleration settings using the Replicator G (G40 - Sailfish) software. Should look something like this: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ykyqGwIUxi...references.png
Just haven't gotten around to doing it myself as I have only tried the MakerWare software... which is garbage.

I have a Micromake Kossel Mini. I am trying to print this effector so that I can use my BLTouch Z-probe with it:

    http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1305770

The *.stl file for the effector is borderline corrupt and will not load in anything but Repetier Host or Cura, unless you fix it with netfabb.

Full disclosure: I have been plagued by the horrible Micromake effector, and therefore unable to calibrate my Kossel. To be honest, I bought the Qidi to be able to print parts for my Kossel so that I could actually calibrate my Kossel to start printing with it... lol.

Anyway, let me know when you guys find your acceleration settings. Right now my ringing is not acceptable, and the movement is not smooth at all. I wonder if acceleration is actually working or not... (maybe a setting in MakerWare that I missed?)

I got simply3d, it was very easy to use with all default settings. My first print came out nicely, except that one side got messed up due to my mistake of not putting support there. But I think this purchase is really worth it.

Also just ordered maghold build platform with a extra spring plate. Can anyone advise which pet tape to buy for the maghold platform? I see some of you have gotten good results with pet.

And where I'm from, there is no aquanet hairspray, which chemical should I look for when buying hairspray for 3d printing?

    Thanks alot guys.

You can also get Aquanet on Amazon:

And also do you guys think this glass plate will fit the maghold build platform?

    http://makersome.com/store/borosilic...te-glass-only/

Price seems ok with free shipping.
