A 3D Printed Tracking Device for Alzheimer’s Patients
Instructables contributor Logan Prasser created a GPS device that can track a person’s movements, sending an alert when they leave a pre-specified range. The device was specifically designed to be used by people afflicted with Alzheimer’s Disease and their caretakers. It uses a microcontroller, GPS and cell modules, and batteries, all of which are housed in a 3D printed case. When the GPS module is not within a specific boundary, the device sends a text message alert, a measure that has the capacity to improve the quality of life for both Alzheimer’s sufferers and those people who love and care for them. Check out more details on the device in the full article: http://3dprint.com/62214/gps-tracker-for-alzheimers/
Below is a look at the GPS tracker:

yes it's a good gadget. And cleveryly made and should prove useful to a lot of people.
But from a 3d printing point of view - it's a simple box.
The tricky part is going to be fixing it permamently to an alzheimers sufferer.
It is a good idea. Just not really a 3d printing story - as such.

This was my first thought as well. My grandfather has alzheimers and is all but impossible to keep track of at times so something like this would be fantastic. But it's not like someone afflicted with the disease is going to remember to grab their tracker whenever they wander off.
