That the heater warmed up at all puzzles me 0 ohms is a short circuit should shut the power supply down !So can that measurement be in error, if not change the heater unit . If the measurement is in error the only likely thing is a curruption of the heater control software is my view

JUST FYI Hot end heater if set it for 160 or anything less heats up as it should. When it gets above 161 danger zone LOL So Im thinking if a short then it would give warning from 1 degree. If its temp sensitive when some part heats up spmethin stops because heating stops rising and few sconds later "heater Failed Printer Stopped Please reset" I think Ill order new heater barrel

Hi I am not sure about the ender 3 but the marlin software on my Saffire pro has a safety feature which checks the rate of change of the nozzle temperature and if it goes outside a given range gives a similar error to that you are seeing in my case err7

well I'd swap the heater cartridge anyway, they're cheap.
Also did all this start when you fitted the new thermistor ?
Always look for 'cause and effect' when trouble shooting.
Could be incorrect settings in firmware, or just dodgy parts.

These two feel Metalic like crimped wires. Pulled apart have same resistance of 19.5 ohms. I can imagine that close to heater they heat up a bit and move closer? I have some tapcan tape Im going to put a piece between those two. And in answering your question did this start when thermistor was changed? NO, I changes thermistor thinking it was the culprit. It started lil after changing 235 x 235 carriage bed to 300 x 300 but still used smaller bed heater (235 x 235) for the time being as didn't yet haf full size heat bed

Okay using homesian deduction.
Problem started after major hardware change.
logical deduction: you caught or damaged something during the operation.
conclusion: replace the non-functioning part - carefully :-)
