Cura 4.4.1 Support question

Apologies ahead of time if this is in the wrong thread and I did search to see if I could find it elsewhere. Very new to3d printing and am working with supports for gaming miniatures. I can't figure out why I am unable to make line supports. Each time I try to use them it is like they are encased in an outer shell. See attached photos of before and after in cura. Also see my current settings for support. Thank you all so much in advance for any guidance or wisdom. Lock
