Researchers in Singapore have been studying how nanostructures scatter light, and how to manipulate that in creating stereoscopic color microprints for 3D printing. By working with different shapes and experimenting with how shapes of nanostructures affect resonance and polarization, they created a design using stars on a 2D surface, and displaced their images. When viewed through a microscope with an eyepiece modified with different polarizers, the vision of the image was in 3D.
