Reddit user 3driven broke the fifth metacarpal after a collision with a car. Upon being given an uncomfortable and painful brace from the medical center, 3driven decided to try 3D printing a customized brace made out of PLA. The design ended up being highly functional and was medically approved. While PLA served its purpose and the hand healed appropriately, 3driven decided to explore some different materials that might be more durable—especially in hot water.
