When Alex Stanciu, a military automotive mechanic, saw what difficulty his girlfriend, a new nurse, was having in finding veins while taking blood samples from patients, he worked on designed an affordable vein finder for her. As a passionate 3D printing enthusiast, this was right up his alley, making a small design with 15 LED lights that shine onto the skin, exposing veins underneath, and offering a gap in the device where the needle is meant to go.
