Rob Gorham, the director of operations for America Makes, says this third project call by his organization was aimed at selecting projects that pack a punch, showing impact and potential for commercialization. As part of the award process, the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute will provide up to $8 million as part of the awards for this project call for AM applied research and development projects. A total of nine winning project teams were chosen from those submitting proposals, and a team incorporating RTI International Metals will be provided an additional $11 million in matching cost shares.
