I can't believe it. The winning design looks like it was pulled of thingiverse, then imported it to 123d design. Plus my design was way better.
man, kai's stuff just keeps on getting better!
I wonder what temp you print this at. Considering that it's like wax, it must be pretty low. Now what I'd really like to see is an open-source wax...
Okay, so I won a gift card to the site http://www.3dthermoplastics.com. But when I went to check what it was, I got this:

Did I get a...
what i'm seeing here is a color inkjet print head rigged to dye the filament as it comes through based on some custom g-code. i guess this is similar to mosaic's idea, but taking a different...
why does it say,"kids can not design and create their own custom toys anytime they want"?
i want the files for this!
of course, that will never happen. the control software and electronics look a little complex too
Awsome!
I have been following the firepick delta for a while, and i was bummed that it didn't make the finalist in the hackaday prize, this is an intresting update.
man, thats surprisingly good detail for a paste extruder
what does "fab grade" mean?
doing this for sure :)
wish i could back this! it's design is beautiful!
however, the cnc module worries me, as i don't think the magnetic ball joint can hold up to the lateral forces of milling.
I asked them, and yes, the .39 micron z resolution is real.
if only it had a larger build plate *sigh*.
I mean, 1.5 by .8 inches?
come on.
Hey, incredibly late reply, but I backed at the sd card level, and haven't received it yet.
anyone else out there?
so cute!:p
man, I wish they had one of these stores where I live.
strange...
I can't wait. Although I'm a little tired of bre pettis being the paperboy of 3d printing.
I plan to major in something, similar, if my college offers it.
This kind of thing could never affect household 3d printers. It was meant to say that large 3d printers with lasers and scary flammable powders in 3d factories could *potentially* explode.
you can achieve the same effect with a single extruder, by raising the letters in your design. Then pause the print before you get to the letters, change the filament to another color, and continue...
carbon fiber cutting would be very useful for strengthening certain 3d printed parts. they should offer them as a tandem service.
this heated bed will fit with room to spare:

what you need is a stereolithography printer, like the form 1 (http://formlabs.com/en/), which goes for about 3,000 dolars.
Or you could wait until the peachy printer plus comes...
yes, yes, this is same answer as every other person, but at least you'll get conclusive survey results.
If 1 low cost 3d printer was donated to every school in a 3rd world country, we would see...
