Most stable cantilevered platform I have used. No flex at all.

OMG! If that was lit and connected normally at the other end you may have a number of problems. Where did that come from?

Lol, ya, at first I was like WTF… Then realized they also reversed the power input to the main board…

It should be known that the power input + an - is reversed from the rest of the plugs like heaters and fans. I guess they wanted the polarity to all look the same on the main board so they switched it at the power supply. Not a good practice.

Shot in the friggin dark here....but I'm at the end of my rope on this one....

I need the width of the old eastbloc/soviet equiv to weaver/picatinny rails.

These are the type rails on a DragunovSVD and TitanFoundary firearms.

I know they are much narrower that weaver rails, but can't find the actual messurement to save my life.

Alright! There be QIDI here. Orange PLA and White ABS filament. The box arrived UPS today from Amazon, some minor exterior damage but nothing obvious so far. Mostly assembled and seems to be working! Printing some inane pre-loaded PLA thing called "Mr Jaws" from the SD card it came with. Aside from the usual bed adhesion, corners lifting, can't get the left fan running cause I haven't a clue how stuff works... it's looking a lot like a printer.

Sailfish 7.8 with the 2650. Only bummer so far is the 8mm Z axis guide rods (dang). So now the big project is to clear a space for it in the lab cause the Mrs is gonna get rather cross if it stays on the DR table for too long!

Did you mean the left extruder fan or the fan you have to attach yourself, because the former doesn't come on until the left extruder reaches 50°C, which won't happen immediately if you're not using that extruder. The latter was coming on automatically for me, and I don't know how to shut it off. I've disconnected the wire for now because it will screw up ABS prints horribly.

Other than that, my ABS prints are going good now. Using ABS simply because the white looks nicer for what I'm doing than the orange. The orange and white combo seems to be common with the QIDI.

Really nice work! Is that one off or will you be making more of them?

That is great to hear you are up and running! The 8mm Z axis rods aren't bad but it would be nice to have the 10's.

The extra fan / turbo fan is controlled through the slicer (Simplify3D "Cooling" tab in processes for me) and I would recommend controlling it there instead of the panel on the front of the machine. If you are referencing the left extruder fan, JSensebe is correct it only comes on at a certain temperature.

Shark is done, even got it off the bed and its raft no big deal. I cheated and used untreated blue tape for the first shot. I used the right hand extruder with PLA at 210 and 40.

Some ugly stuff was going on in sharkprint when it tried to lay a fine mesh over an open honeycomb on the top surface. It tried to lay down a mesh over the entire surface, but only managed to work its way in from the outside by a gradual accretion of broken threads until there was sufficient foundation to lay down an actual solid layer over the lumpy mess. I'm not going to waste any more time on it as hopefully S3D will provide a controllable environment to debug within.

So, on to that, the next hurdle is to get S3D installed, download something useful from thingyV, plug in the correct setup scripts from the conveniently located separate thread on this BB, and learn how to plop the results onto an SD card. Oh yeah, then print.

So, first ignorant question, does the SD card need any particular formating or prep to get the printer happy with its content?
