In the Chinese engineer's defense, it is what Makerbot used so they went with that. There wasn't really anything but reverse engineering done on the Clones.

Is 240-245c to hot for the stock setup?
Seems this MakerGeeks stuff is a bit higher temp than the Orb Polymer stuff I'm used to. Not a big deal on ABS, run the Orb stuff at 226c, this MG ABS is printing like butter right at 230c.
The MG petg spool says 260c on it, but I am pretty sure thats a bit much more the stock set up. Wanna try and run it 240 and see what happens, but only got a few tubes and don't really wanna melt one.

Not sure, every brand is a little different. Just gotta try it and see. Test layer adhesion and check print quality. You're not gonna melt the PTFE. PTFE doesn't really melt, it will deform slightly.

Well, with what Emily said about their "Engineers" are working on it so does this mean they are reverse engineering something else (I wonder which printer it could be if so?) or are they being inventive? I am saying that two faced because on one hand I am being sarcastic because the Chinese are not known for their inventiveness these days but rather theft of IP (reverse engineering) but on the other hand I would really love to see something brand new from them that was not simply a clone.
Since we may surmise that the former is probably what is happening due to the past practices of the companies in China, including Qidi Tech, then that leaves one to think it will be a clone of a current printer with a much bigger building envelope. Now, since that is probably the case what is out there, currently, that would fit that build?

The thing is it is tough to find many mainstream printers with a significantly bigger volume, and ones that actually do it right and can print reasonably fast and high quality are even fewer. Raise3D showed promise but they messed a few things up and didn't use large enough guide rods. Fusiontech isn't a big name, but is probably one of the best printers out there and a not too bad of price for the build volume it offers.
They really don't need to invent anything, most motion mechanisms have been known for almost 70 to 80 years. Heck a Core XY is basically a 1960's etch a sketch mechanism.

Nope, no invention needed but thinking outside the box is, or would that be inside the box in this case? LOL.
Seriously, I don't know of one with a bigger envelope/volume either so this will have to be created and while easy for most it isn't as easy for companies who only understand how to RE everything they make. It will be interesting, or not, what Qidi Tech comes up with.

My guess is that the bigger envelope machine will be something similar to the Wanhao D5S

Has anybody noticed that Qidi Tech is located in the Wanhao Building?

I think it would be a big win if Qidi would copy this design, enclose it and add a heated bed. Sell it for $1000 - 1200.
