    Great 3D Printer

I received mine yesterday. (3 days shipping from China is incredible!)

You can access the power switch from the bottom of the printer with a small screw driver. Tip the printer on its side so you can see into the guts with all the wires and stuff. There is a big silver box that is the power supply. On one of the long sides of the power supply there is a red switch, I think it is towards the front of the printer. I was surprised to find that mine was already switched to 115V.

I received Grey ABS and Blue PLA.

I bit the bullet and purchased the Simplify3D software. I just used all of the defaults in the software for the Flashforge Creator Pro profile and printed an ABS cube. The cube stuck to the blue sticker (Qidi refers to it as the PC glue) on the build platform like crazy. I actually damaged the sticker trying to pry it off. I've order a glass plate kit to hopefully help with this.

I also tried printing with PLA and it worked really well. I am impressed with the quality of the prints, looks almost as good as the Stratasys UPrint machines we have at work. I used the default settings in Simplify3D for the PLA also which I guess is a little hot (230°C) but the prints came out beautiful. I'm going to reduce the temperature to 205°C tonight and see how it goes.

My first impressions of the machine are really good. The acrylic top is a little hokey but I guess it works. The instructions are barely useful but it isn't too hard to figure out what they are trying to show. The shipping was way fast and packaged really well. If you are on the fence with this machine just do it. Can't beat the price. I offered them $650 on ebay and they accepted it, maybe they would go lower?

Everything is unboxed, pop in the SD card it comes with for instructions, and there is issue with first bit.

It shows a switch on the power supply to change from 230v to 115v. It says this is very important or you can hurt the motherboard. My machine does not have this switch anywhere I can see. Anyone know whats up?

Also, I got black ABS and a lightish brown PLA spool.
You have to either take the bottom off, or look through the vents on the bottom to see this switch.

I made an offer of 600 and got mine

Did you get the new one with the fan mount on the side of the extruder? And does yours say QIDI sailfish 7.8 in the 'About firmware' menu section???

Yes, I had to attach the side mount fan since it wasn't installed by default but it was in the package. And yes I checked the firmware and it said Sailfish 7.8.

What about the little stiff wires sticking out the filament feed holes in top of extrusion trolly??

They seem like maybe they there to hold the feed guide tubes in place...just wanna be sure.

Found a set of files on thingaverse called 'essential calibration set'. Should I bother with any of that at first?
Everyone says try PLA first, but I need to make shim and clamps for glass plate, figured the abs would be better for that stuff.

Last question for now, the blue sticky pads they provide for print table..how do you clean that in prep for print? Can use denatured alcho like on glass?

Thank to everyone been helping out in this thread =)

Sounds to me like they didn't fully remove the test filament on yours lol. There are no still wires, just two holes

Should I try and pull em out? Or heat the heads and melt em out?

The power selector switch is on the side of the power supply. You need to look through the bottom grate with a flashlight to see it.
Or as I did take the bottom off so you can easily see and get at it. Plus I'm curious and wanted to see what was under there anyway.

I'd suggest removing them like you unload the filament. Preheat the heads and using the menu select unload filament.

Print a cube or try the Benchy test print on Thingiverse they will tell you how well the printer working.
For glass plate corner clamps use a high temp filament like ABS or my favorite PETG.
The Z axis shim can be printed with anything since it doesn't have to contend with heat.

    Have Fun
