Android app to control reprap and simulate gcode on your device
Hey all. Came across this promising app. It's an Android app that will allow you to control your reprap from your phone instead of using a computer as a host. Very handy when your significant other would like to use the lap top while you've got a job running.
It is also able to simulate what your gcode will look like. Allowing you to check how your print should turn out, making it easier to spot errors and fix them instead of wasting precious filaments.
Unfortunately it doesn't run with my version of Android(2.2.2) but looks like really cool work.

I wonder what happens when you get a phone call.

You'd probably end up with a 3d printed version of the person calling you.
As far as I can gather the printers software does not use up too much computing power.
The raspberry pi can control a printer so I'd imagine the app would probably just keep running
In the background until you've finished your call. You'd probably have to use an SD card on the printer for the gcode
And then use the phone to run the code and keep an eye on temps.

Edit: This is a standard .JAR file and can run on anything with Java - Not just Droid (won't run on iOS).
This is a GREAT piece of code. I use it on Windows and OSX all the time.
When I'm ready to do a large print, or a commission ($$) print, I will run their STL through Netfabb to ensure it is clean and working, then send it via GcodeSim to get a more accurate time (or close estimate) and you can also use the top and side views to see if all parts have printed correctly - I had problems with my i3 dual extruder not printing filament paths for 2 days until I realised!
