Top Layer holes
Having an issue with some prints im doing with PET
my top layer is showing large gaps.
running a 15% infill here. perhaps thats the problem.
.4mm nozzle
2.85mm filament
60mm/sec
.2 layers
3 top layers
230 degree temp hotend
80 degree heated bed with PEI20151216_075552.jpg

I run 1mm of solid top layer with 35% infill. I find three layers are not enough with 35% at 0.2mm; I run five., I wouldn't imagine that three are nearly enough with 15%.

three should be good - but maybe print a little slower - isn't pet suppoed to be not brilliant at bridging ?

Maybe I'm wasting time or plastic, or maybe I'm just too lazy to change now that I've found something that always works. Nothing worse to me than taking the time to print something, and everything looks great except the top layer... So... any time I'm printing over infill that has more than about 3/16" of gaps, I just print 6 layers. It works, what can I say?

As a friend of mine says: if it's dumb, but it works, it's not dumb.

Looks like giant lego tree branches. Are you making giant lego trees ? ;-)

Trouble filling you top layers? Change infill from hexagonal to linear. Hexagonal is terrible for bridging...
