Heat Resistant PLA Could Be A Big Win For Environmentally Friendly 3D Printing
PLA Gets An Upgrade
PLA Filament has fast become the Filament of choice for many 3D Printing enthusiasts as it is relatively inexpensive, it is environmentally friendly due to it being corn-based, and though very slowly, it does biodegrade. Even though its popularity is increasing, there are still many enthusiasts and professionals that don’t see PLA as a viable 3D Printer Filament choice. This is because it can be easily warped by heat, as a PLA-made object is not able to keep its shape when exposed to temperatures above 120 °F. Thanks to the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) in Taiwan, there may be a solution.
