where does this go?
I learned my lesson to remove the filament every time i'm done printing or else it breaks off in the feed assembly.
So after taking the entire thing apart I got the piece that broke off and went to put it back together and noticed this brass piece which I do not remember taking off so maybe it fell.
Any idea where it goes?
Also see why the plastic guide tube doesn't want to push back up into the housing.

looks like the spacer between the fan, heatsink and motor. It's there to keep everything inline, which is probably why the filament feed doesn't line up.
And if you've got filament that breaks that easily - get better filement.
The only stuff I've had that did the 'break as soon as you looked at it' thing - was esun pla.
The reprapper stuff i don't even bother to seal in a bag between uses anymore :-)

Hmm, i wonder if anyone has a break down picture of this assembly? I couldn't find it.
I know there are 2 plastic spacers that hold the fan to the heatsink, but this is brass.

yeah thought maybe they'd been upgraded lol
In that case there aren't many places it could go.
Could be guide tube through the heat unit.
have to admit I've never seen one.
What exactly did you take apart ?

Is that the small part that's inside the extruder motor when you take that apart? - Kinda holds the plastic part that pushes down on the spring.
