Awesome printer! Based on current designs with updates. Going to start printing one right away. This is a true reprap by definition and in spirit.
Enjoy,

That is a design that lends itself to enlarging the build space.

You are right. The Smartrap is very similar to the Printrbot Jr. All the Printrbots lend themselves to increasing the build envelope.

Check out the updates to the Smartrap: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:177256
He has automatic bed leveling working well. Watch this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSmtCz-WMKo
I have no affiliation with Serge, the inventor, I just really like this printer. In the video you can see how simple the bed leveling concept is. Marlin and Repetier have already incorporated this into their firmware. There really isn't any reason we shouldn't be putting this on every reprap we own. Ordered a couple servos last night

I only see one problem. The arms will start to bow, after they get past a certain length. You'll only be able to expand the print bed to a certain point, unless you use larger diameter smooth rods.
Still, it's a good design with expansion in mind. I like it.

Did you build one?
I finished the majority of one today.
Need to add a RAMPS and wire it up!
