On May 15, the US Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) launched an initiative they hope will inspire the 3D design and printing community to come up with innovative new ways to address some of the most compelling needs of the country’s Veterans. The VA Center for Innovation’s Creation Series wants the help of the maker community in creating “an open ecosystem of prosthetics and other assistive technologies.” A list of five specific goals was provided on the campaign website to guide participants and collaborators, who have until the end of July to design, refine and produce need-based solutions.
