bumpy prints because of jumping x-axis?
My cousin just got his new Prusa Mendel last week, and he's having some issues.
1) His prints are turning out humpy. They just aren't straight like they should be
2) I notice that the x-axis seems to be moving very unsmoothly.
Anyone have any clue how to fix this, or if the unsmoothness of the x-axis is normal?

It could be the cables, the motor or any number of other things. Have him swap the motor out with another one and see if tue pribelm follows the motor. Cablas should be set up as twisted pair to avoid radio interference. Check connections at the controller board and motor end

I would say it's probably the belt or cables. I'd check that before checking the motor.

Agreeing with ronny.
Start by making sure your belts are tight. Then make sure your frame is tight.
If that all checks out, you might check that the smooth rods are straight and true.
Also check your motor couplers. If they are slipping, that could cause issues too.
