Glue for PLA
Hey, I am using Cyanoacrylate to bond PLA together. It causes the plastic to discolor and turn white, is there a strong glue that will not do this to PLA?
Thanks

Might try some Epoxy 330. No fumes. Bonds very well.

How long does it take to set?

It takes about 15 minutes to thicken, and a couple hours to fully harden. It will harden in 10 minutes under a heat lamp but that may deform your PLA.

Once both tubes are opened, will they dry out and crack or do they stay usable again? I hate opening glue tubes and then coming back in 2 months to a hardened rock of glue.

They remain usable. Don't know what the shelf-life is. I've used some that was several years old and it held just fine.

I use #4 SciGrip. It is a knock off of #4 Weld-On. It dissolves and melts the PLA plastic together. It forms a very strong bond. There is no discoloration and nothing in the joint but PLA plastic.

I use this stuff: http://www.amazon.com/Glue-Sticks-UH...hu+all+purpose
But it's way way cheaper in the uk. I get 60ml tubes from the pound shop :-)
Sticks anything, particularly good with pla to pla or indeed pla to anything else. Sets almost as quick as super glue and you only use a very thin smear.
Also sticks abs.
Printing time- Is this right?
