I didn't try without the adhesive. In the forum several people did, and tried many other products to get it to stay down. I think in the end it worked to not use adhesive, but the PEI can flex and bow and so even with clips didn't always stay on the bed firmly. Now one thing to consider, those folks have a round bed. I am not sure if it would make a lot of difference with our square beds, but you could always try it first before using the adhesive. I read through like 600 posts, and decided to just not mess around and just mount it. It isn't a permanent fix, as you can remove it and clean the glass and try again, or whatever.

robh2, yes I used the adhesive to hold the PEI to the glass and clip the whole thing down. to the heat bed. The main guy on that thread even if he wanted to, flip the glass over and print on the glass with the PEI down on the heat bed, for other materials.

I know it isn't exactly a printer mod per se, but Gmay3 suggested I post my Folding Spool here:

It works great for sample/specialty filament coils!

Spool Holder
I've had my i3v 10" for about 3 months now and have been reading the forums for a while. I finally got around to making and documenting something for my printer! I've used other spool holders that I downloaded but they always broke, so I finally made my own. I think it works works pretty well and looks cool too. I modeled it after the Eiffel Tower..
