Nike's 3D Printed Cleats to Be Used in SuperBowl XLVIII
Wow, this is another huge deal for the 3D Printing industry in general. Nike has announced a new cleat which was crafted using 3D Printing technology. Although the entire shoe is not 3D Printed like some of the ones we have seen in the past, this cleat used 3D Printing during it's molding and testing process. The cleat will be used by both the NFC and AFC sides in this years Super Bowl XLVIII. Instead of spending an estimated 2 to 3 months in the molding process while manufacturing a new shoe, Nike literally spent just a few hours thanks to the use of 3D printers in their manufacturing facility. The Cleat is called the Nike Vapor Carbon 2014 Elite Cleat, and can be read up on in further detail here: http://nikeinc.com/news/nike-unveils...for-super-bowl

It should be interesting if it snows out during the Super Bowl. Normally players use longer more solid cleats for games in the snow. We could see them slipping all over the place if they are restricted to only wearing these, if it snows out.
Nevertheless, this show looks amazing. Great job Nike!

I wonder if Nike will be selling these to consumers at all. I'd love to get a pair for my little baseball player of a son

Yes, at least when they get them back in stock (ETA January 27th). They ring in at $150.

Did anyone notice or not if they mentioned anything about 3D printing during the superbowl? My house was too loud for me to hear, but that would have been awesome recognitions for 3D printing if they did.
Printer will print perfect...
