FDA Clearance for 3D Printed Bunion Correction
Bunions, or Hallux Valgus deformities, are painful and repairing them involves complicated and often problematic surgical intervention. Now a US company, MedShape, is using 3D printing processes to create a solution to the problem which offers a number of advantages over conventional treatment. The company just received FDA approval for one of their processes and the material involved, a medical and aerospace grade titanium alloy, and they say it's only the first of many such solutions.
