The interesting thing about this extruder design is how he manages to drive the second pinch wheel, while allowing it lateral movement for varying sizes of filament. I'm assuming he's using gears, but he doesn't show us that. A single gear between them would result in the second wheel rotating in the wrong direction, so there have to be two. Unless i've missed something simple, the trick is allowing for the lateral movement between the two.
