Designer/architect and PhD student Benhaz Farahi is making (brain)waves with her latest creation, Synapse. Synapse is a helmet that moves according to the wearer's own brainwaves, and the movement is facilitated by a NeuroSky EEG chip connected to a Mindflex headset. When worn, this incredible kinetic art piece shows stillness or activity by its own motion. Farahi's Synapse is 3D printed on an Object Connex500 using materials that are soft and flexible. Farahi is also collaborating with other researchers in a NASA-funded project to create a robot that can print on the moon.
