I think they promised ABS but then pulled the support. We can't look at the official updates unless we're backers
I am not too upset about the ABS because I am new to the 3D printing technology. I don't know the difference but I do think it is wrong to promise something to encourage people to give more money and then fail to follow through. Now you are now telling those that believed in you that not only will there be no ABS but also no hot bed until maybe after april. SO basically backers such as myself that were to get a printer in February are just casually told," Oh well, we tried but I am sure you will understand. Oh hey, by the way you will also not be getting several other things we promised but thanks for believing in us." It seems that you got what you wanted and in fact surpassed what you wanted and it is those same backers that put you there that you are now screwing. I guess you learned corporate greed and irresponsibility early on. Congrats!

According to their statements, the machine is set to print PLA because the manufacturers see the printer as a domestic use item. They believe that the vapours from ABS should not be emitted into a domestic situation.
However, they do recognize that people might like to use ABS, so there is a switching method that changes the printer settings so it can use ABS. I suppose that switch would change the printer settings to allow higher tempertures.

Thanks for the answers.
If I wanna use it as a domistic printer, then I would also like to print in a few other materials.
So, I think I'm not going to buy this one, cause I also get an up2. And that printer does print in PLA also.

For anyone that is attending the CES, Pirate3D will be demonstrating the Buccaneer 3D Printer for the first time. I'm looking forward to see this thing in action.
