RepRap has risen to prominence in helping make 3D printers more accessible. The latest machine to arise from the RepRap community is called the Skeleton 3D, and features a lightweight -- only 5 kg! -- build and a simple look, and was specially designed with portability in mind. Available in 23 files for download from Thingiverse and GitHub, the Skeleton 3D is still a work in progress, but features some solid specs in this first generation. The documents have already been downloaded by over 200 people. Check out more about the Skeleton 3D: http://3dprint.com/28735/skeleton-3d-printer-reprap/

Looks similar to the early reprap designs. I'd be concerned about the stability of the frame. Triangles were introduced into the reprap design to overcome the stability issues arising from having this type of frame.

Hi,
I'm the one who created the Skeleton3D with a friend.
I am pleased to see that the Skeleton is shared!
The picture that you show is the very first version !
There is new 3d rendering of the last version (with inductive sensor) on thingiverse : http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:560353
As you can see the frame is consolidated and I have no stability problems!
Is you have any question, I'm here to reply

Very nice frame braces. It's a very good looking machine. Consider that it's top-heavy, I think the frame bracing is a must. I see you have it on one axis (call it Y) - are you OK with it not being on the X axis as well?
