Self Regenerating 3D Printed Running Shoes
This is a running shoe 3d printed using synthetic biological materials. They can regenerate themselves over night. Is this not totally insane?
They are made out of protocells. Protocells are not alive themselves, but when combined with other protocells basically allows you to program them to do different things (based on heat, pressure and light).
They are printed using the persons foot as a diagram. They will fit the foot like a glove, perfectly. They also inflate and deflate as needed, when being run on.
Seems so futuristic, but in reality, this is NOW!
They are from a company called Wearable Futures

Very interesting. Does anyone know more about this project - is it still in development, is there a white paper? I would like to know more about the science.

well I'd have to say that the living trainers are currently an Idea.
Not a reality.
To start with: what keeps the cells alive ?
Presumably they'd need nutrition and water.
I guess you could use plant cells, which would just need light and water and trace minerals.
There are no products listed on the website - just talks.
It's certainly an interesting idea - but it's not here yet.
